Having recently completed “Field of Purple Flowers” to the plaudits of friends and family, I was eager to get started on another one. When I received “Romantic Tranquil Stream”, I was glad to see that it included a paper pattern along with the painting, which the previous painting had lacked. This one is very intricate and involves a lot of close work with a magnifying glass, but I can see already it will be worth the effort. Very relaxing hobby, takes a lot of concentration. ONE CAVEAT: THE FINISHED PAINTING, IF YOU STAY WITHIN THE BORDERS, IS NOT 16″ X 20″. It is 15-5/8″ x 19-5/8″. I discovered this when I bought a nice frame for a 16″ x 20″ and the painting did not fill the whole frame, with about 1/8″ of exposed canvas on all four edges. I remedied it by a little artistry of my own, extending the painted area. I see the same condition applies to the “Stream” painting, so am doing the same with this one. This is the only drawback I can see, except with the previous painting I ran short on a couple of colors and had to mix some out of colors I had from another set.

I am an artist and was just curious as to what this would be like as many I speak to want to paint, but don’t want to “learn” how to paint. This product is good quality and would be great for someone to do who has lots of time and a place to put it while working on it. Not a “do in a day” painting… will take a very long time which is great for many people as they will have something fun to do. My only suggestion would be to go and get some higher quality brushes. I spent many days tinkering with this painting and painted up through color #10. Once I got nearly all of the blue background painted, along with the complementary blues in the background, I realized that the colors in this painting wouldn’t look at all like the original. Not only that, the colors I am using don’t look good next to each other on the painting. If I spent the remaining time on this to paint the whole painting, I would not be satisfied with the end result and would NEVER want to display it. Very disappointing. Also, many of the numbers and lines show through the paint (and I was making it thicker there too). Just not anything I would ever frame or display. I took a great deal of time and detail to paint this up through paint color #10 and am really upset that I wasted that time. Also, I purchased 3 other paintings and I don’t even want to try them because they are probably the same – the colors won’t look like the picture, the number will show through the paint, and the colors I end up with won’t even complement each other or look like they were meant to go together.

I used the paint recieved and it looks quite different than shown in the picture as advertised. Its difficult to tell the waves from the shore due to the yellowish grayish colors used for the waves. I would recommend purchasing the smaller print, maybe that would help.

It is the biggest bang for the $$ – spent several hours enjoying myself. Nice thing is it can be taken with me if I were to do a paint night with friends (it’s portable). I have a nice bright reading light I use to help me see details at night. Gunna buy more!!

I knew I was going to love this one and it didn’t disappoint. The colors are so vibrant, actually better than what the picture depicted. This is my second thus far and I plan on continuing until I’ve painted all of the items on the site that interest me (or until my fingers fall off, whichever happens first). Very relaxing and such an enjoyable experience. It’s one of those “trust the process” experiences as well…..looks intimidating at first, then it doesn’t look like much for a while, but then comes a point when you really start to see the picture come to life. Highly recommended!

This painting is very detailed with parts smaller than a grain of rice. I enjoyed it very much. The only negative is running out of all the light colors (15, 9, 4) which need 2 coats to cover grey lines. I recommend ironing the canvas before starting and also stapling it to a wood frame as it makes it easier to paint propped against something like an easel (easier on the neck too). I chose to not paint the symbols.

I ordered “Sunflower Park” by Gustav Klimt, which is a gorgeous piece of art, and I am having a great time working on it. This is my first PBN project since I was a kid and I was worried it wouldn’t be challenging, the paint and canvas would not be high quality, but boy was I wrong! The design is very intricate and some spaces are very tiny! I am using a lighted magnifier and the smallest paintbrush I could find at the art store, and I am digging it! I already know where I will be hanging the finished work, and I am now shopping for my next project, although I am far from finishing. I suspect this one will take me a month or more. Perfect for long snowy winter nights by the fire.

I finally started this paint by number. It won’t be finished for quite some time. I will gladly show my finsished results. As for the kit itself, so far all the paints are going very smoothly on the canvass. It is not on cardboard but a rolled up canvass. I will have to get a backing for it once I am finsihed. There is no clolor mixing but to blend the colors of the sky I add a little water and blend them so it doesn’t look like lines between the sky and the clowds. Can’t wait to see the finsihed results.
